Digital wedding albums

On Thursday came to our studio the lab prints commercial where digital wedding albums are made. When somebody shows you a big range of possibilities to assemble an album you raise a lot of issues already thought you had predetermined and that ultimately make up your line, your style.

In our case we search both in photographic style as in style layout, a product that lasts over time, and I do not mean the quality of the materials, that is proved in detail, but the vision that we have of this report within of, say, thirty years. Let’s try taking a wedding album of family or friends made in the early 90’s: leaving aside the clothes and hairstyles, leaving aside the photographic style that would have the photographer who took those pictures, and obviously that still photos were not layout digitally and directly glued on the album, look at the album covers, the colors of the base cards and framed … you probably squeak today some excessively acidic colors, depending on which year over pastel, or perhaps still can find some screen printing of a pigeon carrying the rings. If not, if you do not skate the full set of product, congratulations! you have a timeless album that surely will not expire when you see it in thirty years. This is what we want to achieve with our albums.

But it is difficult to travel with the mind to the future and see what will last nice or what will expire imminently, perhaps only on five or ten years.

People feel an attraction to vintage, we like for example the strong and rounded line of a 70‘s telephone that we all have in our imaginary on the chamber of our grandparents’ house, but we do not like the figurine of baby Jesus lying on a mat side by side the phone. They are contemporary, but the first one is glamorous to us and the other one makes us emerge an embarrassment smile, although I do not think it caused any style contradiction to the people of that generation.

Therefore, to discern a product of the other in the present with a view to a future that will endure is trying to accomplish a task successfully studying history, in this case design’s history, although it could be extrapolated to other areas such as politics and economics (I think it would be much better to be governed by historians not politicians).

Through reports of wedding photography as both videographic, we do not want to be a “hunting trends,” we want you to see your album on 2042 and remember that day as it was and especially how you loved each other, without any song by LadyGaga resonating in your head.
